CONNECTION

CURRICULUM

Often during the most difficult seasons of our lives, we find ourselves turning to the people closest to us. The ones we view as our home team, our safe spaces. This month, we are hearing from Izzy Boring. Her story shares how her closest circles of connection supported her through one of the most difficult parts of her story. Our challenge to you this month is to think about the people that sit in the closest circles of trust for you. Who are the people that you know are “your people”? How can you thank them or connect with them?

my people connections

07.

Hello! I’m Izzy! I am a recent high school graduate and basketball player. A hard piece of my story has been losing my boyfriend to suicide during my senior year, but through that I have learned to connect with people supporting me. I have learned that it is okay to not be okay and it is okay to be vulnerable!

Option 1: Watch the entire video all the way through and have a conversation using these questions or ones that make sense for your students. Here at O7S, Izzy’s story and Cade’s story inspired us to create this curriculum that you have been engaging with all year. Izzy’s strength reminds us that we are all connected–we each have a purpose–ours is to end loneliness, for each of you there may be a different purpose. Take this opportunity to share with your students why you share O7S with them. Then ask:
  • What part of Izzy’s story was the most impactful for you?
  • Are there hard things in your life that are giving you strength to help others like faith does for Izzy?
  • What questions do you have for Izzy? What would you want to ask her?
  • Allow time for students to text or call someone they are thinking about at the moment.
